About Nomadic Cat

Hi there, traveler! Nomadic Cat makes yurts inspired by Central Asian culture and design.

The cat yurt is a way to combine two things I love -- my culture and my kitties!

I am Kazakh but came to the USA in 2023 with my American spouse and our four cats after a long and lengthy visa process.

Change is scary for people but nothing like how scary it is for a cat!

Our cats did not enjoy leaving their cozy homes behind, or the flight around the world.

They were found on the streets of a busy Asian city as kittens. By the time we moved to the US they were already 7 years old. Just taking them to the vet was always incredibly tough. But we couldn't leave them, so they just had to trust us!

So though the journey was strange and frightening, the little nomads made it with us to their new home with way more space.

We're all very happy to be in the Philadelphia, USA now! 

What about the yurts?

Well one day, being Kazakh and observing how much cats like to feel safe and snug, I thought it might be fun to share more about Central Asia here through the design of yurts for cats.

After making some different yurts with simple felt and stitch I was happy to see my cats truly love and use them. Of course cats would like yurts, they're really just like burrows!

Now my brave Kitty Khans are around ten years old. They spend most afternoons yurt napping. It feels good to see them feeling so secure and comfortable. 

I hope you and your cat will enjoy a Nomadic Cat Yurt too. Coming across your cat in a mini-yurt will always cozy the vibe and brighten the day.
